Trampoline Fitness Trend: How a Garden Trampoline Can Become a Fitness Tool

Jumping fitness is currently one of the most popular fitness trends. Google searches for the term “trampoline fitness” have increased by 75% over the past three months*. It is no surprise, as it combines cardio training, coordination and fun.

But did you know that a children’s trampoline or garden trampoline can also be the perfect fitness tool for adults? While it is one of the most popular play items for children, it can also be a wonderful way for parents and other adults to bring more movement into everyday life, offering a playful alternative to conventional cardio training. And according to health sources, trampoline exercise not only trains various muscle groups, but can also burn up to 500 calories per half hour, depending on exercise intensity.**

“Many people associate a garden trampoline primarily with children. But a high-quality garden trampoline can also be used by adults for exercise and the fun of jumping,” says Thomas Hagel, R&D Manager of North Trampoline.

Whether you simply want to try a trampoline workout for the first time or are looking for an alternative to endurance training, these tips can help turn your children’s trampoline into a home workout tool.

1. Leave the high jumps and tricks to the children

As an adult — especially if you do not have regular trampoline experience — it is best to avoid high jumps and acrobatic elements. Training on a garden trampoline is not about jumping as spectacularly as possible, but about moving in a controlled and mindful way.

“An adult-appropriate trampoline workout does not mean jumping higher, but training more consciously,” Thomas continues. “It is about control, rhythm, core tension and consistency — not acrobatics.”

0. Trampoline safety: What adults should pay attention to

A high-quality trampoline can generally also be suitable for sporting use by adults. Nevertheless, a few important points should always be checked before training. In particular, the permitted weight capacity, a secure and stable setup, and a flawless technical condition are crucial for safe use.

The following checklist should be followed before every jumping session — whether by children or adults:

· Is the maximum weight capacity suitable for its users?

· Are the jumping mat, springs and frame parts intact?

· Is the trampoline stable?

· Is the surface dry and free from slippery spots?

0. Simple exercises for beginners

Adults who want to try jumping fitness should start with these simple exercises.

· Gentle bouncing — the perfect warm-up exercise

Stand on the trampoline with your feet hip-width apart and bounce gently up and down without actually leaving the mat.

· Weight shifts for balance

Using a controlled side-to-side movement, shift your weight from right to left. This helps train balance and coordination.

· Light marching steps for stability

March lightly on the spot, and if you feel safe and stable, lift your knees alternately.

· Short cardio intervals

If you want a little more intensity, you can try 20–30 second intervals of gentle jumping or bouncing.

“The garden trampoline is not just play equipment, but can also be a simple way for adults to bring more movement into their everyday lives. Especially if you are looking for an alternative to classic cardio, trampoline fitness could be exactly the right fit for you,” says Thomas Hagel.
